LECTURE
45-minute lecture + 45-minute live practical demonstration (Live Surprise Demo)
For many years, direct composite restorations were regarded as a compromise between aesthetics, treatment time, and cost. Today, thanks to a deeper understanding of tooth optics and the conscious use of the properties of modern restorative materials, composite has become a fully fledged tool in contemporary aesthetic dentistry.
During the theoretical session, we will focus on what makes a restoration not merely look acceptable, but become virtually invisible. We will explore the relationship between light, tooth anatomy, and dental tissue structure, as well as the principles of intentionally creating depth, translucency, and both micro- and macro-surface texture.
This will not be a lecture based on ready-made recipes or universal protocols. Instead, it will offer a different perspective on aesthetics—one rooted in visual perception and an understanding of the mechanisms that allow composite to disappear from view and create the illusion of a natural tooth.
The second part of the session will be a 45-minute live practical demonstration, during which the audience will collectively choose the tooth to be restored. Without any prior preparation, a complete direct composite restoration will be performed, with continuous commentary explaining the clinical and aesthetic decision-making process at every stage of the procedure.
