LECTURE: Endodontics in the “implant era”.
Arnaldo Castellucci is an endodontic specialist whose experience in microscopic endodontics is accessible and educational, spanning almost 40 years. He has created a reference work and authored numerous internationally renowned articles and books that have supported the training of generations of dentists around the world.
Dr. Castellucci graduated in medicine from the University of Florence in 1973 and specialized in dentistry at the same university in 1977. In the years 1978–1980, he took part in detailed courses in endodontics at the University of Boston, and in 1980 he spent four months at the Department of Endodontics with Professor Herbert Schilder. Since then, he has been practicing endodontics on a limited basis.
He is the former president of the Italian Endodontic Society S.I.E. and an active member of the electronic association of the E.S.E. Society of Endodentology, where he served as secretary in 1981–1983. He is also an active member of the American Association of Endodontists A.A.E. from 1985.
He was president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations I.F.E.A. in the years 1990–1992.
In the years 1983–2000 he was a professor of endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Siena. From 2001 to 2014 he was a visiting professor of endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Florence.
Currently, he is an assistant professor of endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Cagliari and a professor of microsurgical endodontics at the Specialty of Oral Surgery at the Federico II University of Naples.
He translated the text into Italian entitled “Clinical and surgical endodontics. Concepts in Practice” by Frank, Glick, Simon and Abou-Rass, published by Piccin.
He was editor of “The Italian Endodontic Journal” and “The Endodontic Informer”. He is also the founder and president of “Ciepły Studium Gutta-Perch”. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Endo Tribune and an editorial advisor to the journals Endodontic Practice and Endodontic Practice US, as well as a member of the editorial board of Clinical Dentistry.
He is the founder and president of the Microendodontics Training Center in Florence, where he conducts theoretical and practical courses in intact and applied endodontics.
Over 60 articles on endodontics have been published in the most prestigious endodontic journals.
In 1993, the text “EndodonziA” was published by Martin, which was updated and translated into English in 2004 under the name “EndodonticS”.
He is also the author of the text “Micro Surgical Endodontics”, published by Edra, currently available in Italian, English and Spanish. He wrote the chapter “Obturation of the Radicular Space” for the 7th edition of “Ingle’s Endodontics” published by PMPH USA, the chapter “Internal Tooth Anatomy and Root Canal Obturation” for the text “The Root Canal Anatomy in Permanent Dentition” published by Springer, is co-author of the chapter “Nonsurgical Root Canal Retreatment” for the text “The Guidebook to Molar Endodontics”, published by Springer, and also wrote the chapter “Endodontic-Periodontic Interrelationships” for the text “Diagnosis and periodontal therapy” published by Quintessence.
As an international lecturer, he has given presentations at national and international congresses in over 66 different countries around the world. Dr. Castellucci has lectured on non-intrusive endodontics, surgical endodontics, retraction, CBCT, nickel-titanium instruments, new technologies, instruments and materials, and the surgical operating microscope. Dr. Castellucci is also involved in hands-on training in both surgical and non-surgical endodontics, both internationally and at his Micro Endodontics Training Center in Florence, Italy.
