LECTURE: “Enhancing Endodontic Microsurgery Outcomes. The role of Bone Grafting Materials.”
Prof. Bekir Karabucak earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Istanbul University (Turkey) and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed a Master of Science in Oral Biology. He subsequently completed his postgraduate training in endodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, Dr. Karabucak remained at the University, where he currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Endodontics and holds the position of Chair of the Department of Endodontics. He is also the Director of the Advanced Dental Education Program and Director of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
In parallel with his academic duties, Dr. Karabucak practices clinical endodontics and serves as Clinical Director at the Endodontics Clinic at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He is also an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Dr. Karabucak has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Dental Faculty Honorary Award from the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society, the Earle Bank Hoyt Award from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, the Educator Award from the American Board of Endodontics, and the Resident Research Award from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
He holds the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Association of Endodontists, the American Association for Dental Research, the Pulp Biology Group, and the Turkish Association of Endodontics.
Dr. Karabucak has authored numerous scientific publications in journals and textbooks and serves as a peer reviewer for professional publications, collaborating with, among others, the Journal of Endodontics, the Journal of Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry, the Korean Journal of Restorative Dentistry, and the Hacettepe University Dental Journal, as well as participating in academic committees at the School of Dental Medicine.
